Canva Create 2025

The Canva Create 2025 Conference just popped up so I'm checking it out.

I like Canva for how fast it is in the browser.

It also maps to non-expert intuitive mental models, which is good for collaborating with different levels of technical and design expertise.

I use the whiteboard a lot to throw things together and organize them, or to keep a base of assets that can later flow into different things. I just naturally end up firing up Canva because I noticed that my machine runs faster than if, say, I am doing things in Illustrator, and also in the browser, and they are visual. It accepts different filetypes by cut and paste pretty easily. I think it uses infinite canvas, but I haven't checked. It just seems like it.

I use a lot of tools, so it's not a replacement for things like Figma or Illustrator, but sometimes, you want quick and constrained, and encapsulated outside of other spidery enterprise logins that are hard to visualize the audience for a new team project, and want to just throw images or text together then sift through it.

It's got standard social media size templates which are the initial reason I checked it out, because if you are doing visuals for posts for a corporate social media account, and the team has varied experitse levels, and the assets are coming from different sources, and you can't predict what size might be required downstream yet, then Canva kind of works because it's got those vast amounts of social media post sizes ready to go.

It still takes time to iterate as a team, to get all the elements in place and finalize them, but the actual in-browser or mobile app nuts and bolts of moving things around and resizing them can take less time if you can just switch automatically to a different size, and stay in the flow, in the browser or on your phone where all the communication is happening.

I'm just checking out how Disney and FedEx used it: https://www.youtube.com/live/LupwvXsOQqs
